Quick answer: Open your VPS's service page in the Cloud2Y Client Area and use Upgrade/Downgrade (plan) or Upgrade/Downgrade Options (configurable options like RAM, disk, bandwidth, extra IPv4). Pay the prorated invoice and the change is applied — most resource changes need only a reboot.
Overview
Cloud2Y VPS/VDS plans scale without migration: you keep the same server, IP addresses and data while CPU, RAM, disk or bandwidth grow. Billing is prorated — you pay only the difference for the remainder of the current cycle.
Before you start
- Know your bottleneck — check CPU, RAM and disk usage first so you upgrade the right resource.
- A payment method for the prorated invoice.
- A maintenance moment: applying some upgrades requires a reboot.
Step-by-step guide
- Log in and open My Services → your VPS.
- Choose Upgrade/Downgrade to switch plan, or Upgrade/Downgrade Options to change individual options (RAM, disk & RAID, bandwidth, extra IPv4, DDoS protection).
- Pick the new configuration and confirm — an invoice for the prorated difference is generated.
- Pay the invoice; the upgrade is applied after payment.
- Reboot if prompted, then verify:
nproc, free -h,df -h. - Disk grown but filesystem the same size? Expand the filesystem.
Common issues
- Upgrade paid but resources unchanged? Reboot first; for disk, the filesystem must be grown separately.
- Need more than the largest plan? Consider a VDS with reserved resources, a Power VPS, or a dedicated server.
- Downgrading disk? Shrinking a filesystem is not done automatically — free the space and open a ticket first.
When to contact support
If an option you need isn't offered on the service page, you're unsure what to upgrade, or the change didn't apply after payment and reboot, open a support ticket.
Frequently asked questions
Will an upgrade erase my data?
No — upgrading the plan or its options keeps your data, operating system and IP addresses exactly as they are. At most the VPS needs a reboot for the new resources to be picked up.
How is the upgrade billed?
Upgrades are billed prorated: an invoice is generated for the price difference covering the remainder of your current billing cycle, and the change is applied once that invoice is paid.
Why is my disk still the old size after a disk upgrade?
The virtual disk grew, but the partition and filesystem inside the OS must be expanded too — see the disk expansion guide.
